I guess they used baseball because baseball is pretty popular in Japan while nobody outside the US gives a shit about CTEball and golf is more rich coded.
I was gonna say (and did), baseball has become pretty hipster. I’m from Baltimore and if you go to an O’s game half the people there are like breaded dudes with full sleeve tattoos who look like they just came from an Fleet Foxes concert.

Baseball has the oldest and whitest fan base of the major sports quite easily unless things have changed drastically and very recently
