that’s sad as fuck, it is one of the things that shake my faith in humanity. motherfuckers are already mourning chatbots and its only getting worse.

not that I know from like experience or anything but sometimes it can be a little entertaining to engage in roleplay without being like “everything i say is cringe and being appraised by another human being who will perceive all of that cringe as I die, of cringe, because I’m both a bad writer and bad roleplayer”

      j/s crush

idk how engaging with these things leads people to marry them though lol

Kinda funny to see this when 20 years ago people were debating whether an online GF/BF was a real relationship and saying cybersex is weird.

Now the idea of there being a real actual person on the other end is out of the question

really weird of Elon to be honking and crying about white birthrates and then unleash this shit on his own audience. If I were some hyperfash I’d be saying that people making these chatbots should be condemned to death for threatening the white race or whatever but I guess Elon’s probably investing all his grok money into mechanical wombs or whatever

I honestly still can’t believe that the grok app has taken Loving Inspiration™ from Whats-Her-Face Death Note and now I suddenly have to see all these weirdos literally just immediately fawning over a character that has absolutely nothing original, redeeming or charming about her. Does this thing have like gambling mechanics or something, is that what’s got these weirdos hooked? Cause if it’s literally just a plagiarized middle-tier design that spits out plagiarized middle-tier messages without any personality beyond just flattering you ad nauseam, and that’s it, then I can’t even recognize the humanity of someone who’d pay for that crap! — Up the autistic 16 year olds making MS Paint DeviantArt edits of Little Witch Akko standing next to grainy photos of themselves, down with LLM chatbot waifus and those who throw money at them!

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought it was Misa before remembering that it’s actually notMisa. It’s worth noting that aside from not being sci-fi, she is literally the perfect embodiment of Musk’s shit taste, because Misa is a devoted fangirl of Light, the perfect, sexy genius who thinks that killing every convict (or even alleged perpetrator) will transform the world into a paradise of which he is a god, and Light brutally uses her as a tool for his own ends and she is more or less aware of this and happy to be used.

      gambling mechanics

Yup. Pretty simple to evaluate its own responses by continued interaction, tailored to that person. Profit motive demands that sort of algorithm.

I don’t think you need to add gambling mechanics to an LLM, their inherent unreliability hits the same notes.

I think what really made me skeptical of LLM chatbots was asking it challenging technical questions from my field of work, and it giving me the most bullshitty reddit-know-it-all answers.

I gave it entry level questions for stuff that should really be in the dataset and it gave the obviously wrong answer that people who know nothing give.

Musk seems to think that a PhD is just reading a lot. The main difference between a PhD and a Masters besides the structure is that a PhD requires making an original contribution to the field, not just knowing a bunch of established things about it. On that basis, no AI can resemble having a PhD in anything and Musk is a complete pseudo-intellectual who wants to use academia for credibility without understanding its most basic functions.

Also it just gets basic facts wrong anyway quite often.

Because it has an anime waifu avatar that’ll take its clothes off and is programmed with the personality of Elon Musk and that is apparently catnip to a special sort of customer I hope to never meet.

Am I the only one who thinks her design is kinda mid? Like they threw a bunch of elements together that, individually, say “cool anime character” but in their totality sum to something blah.
